Pella Certified Reseller

Pella windows & doors for Outer Banks homes

Refresh OBX is a Pella Certified Reseller. We offer Pella windows & doors through the Pella showroom in Kill Devil Hills, installed by Pella. It starts with a free, no-pressure assessment of the windows and doors you want checked.

What's included

  • Replacement windows, usually the Pella 250 Series vinyl replacement window
  • The Pella Lifestyle Series and the Pella Impervia Series when they fit the home
  • Pella doors through the Pella showroom in Kill Devil Hills (Outer Banks homes)
  • A look at every window and door you want checked, with measurements and photos
  • The window price and Pella's installation estimate, shown separately

Salt air, wind and sun are hard on windows. We start with a free assessment: we look at every window and door you want checked, take measurements and photos, and email you the photos and our report.

Then we meet again, in person or by Zoom, to go over options and pricing. For windows, you see the window price and Pella's installation estimate separately. You purchase the windows from Refresh OBX and pay Pella directly for installation. Pella does a final measure before the order is placed.

Pella window lines

Less confusion. Better expertise.

Your consultation shouldn't feel like a catalog with dozens of manufacturers and hundreds of combinations. By focusing on one main Pella window line, we can know it well and make the buying process easier to understand.

Want more design options, or extra strength for oceanfront exposure? Ask about the Pella Lifestyle Series (wood interior, aluminum-clad exterior) and the Pella Impervia Series (fiberglass).

Our goal is not to give you more choices. It's to help you make a better-informed choice.

Five signs a window needs attention

If you notice any of these, a free assessment is a good next step. We'll look at every window you want checked.

  • Fog or moisture between the panes
  • Sashes that stick or won't stay open
  • Drafts you can feel on a windy day
  • Soft or cracked frames
  • Water stains below the window

Salt-air care tips from Pella

Salt spray and wind-blown sand are hard on windows and doors. Pella's own care guidance says products in coastal areas need more frequent inspection and maintenance. Five tips from Pella's owner's manual and care pages:

  1. Wash often. If your home gets wind-driven salt spray or salt fog, Pella says to wash the exterior and the operating hardware with mild detergent and water at least every three months, and more often if needed.
  2. Skip the pressure washer. Pella says not to power-wash, scrape, or use abrasive or harsh cleaners on its windows and doors.
  3. Vacuum the sill. Open the lower sash a few inches and use a vacuum brush attachment to pull out sand and debris.
  4. Clear the weep holes. These small drain holes at the bottom of the frame let water out. Pella says to keep them free of dirt and sand with a small, soft brush.
  5. Check the caulk once a year. Look closely at the lower corners and the joints between grouped windows. Cracked, broken or missing caulk should be fixed.

These are general tips. Always check the care guide for your own windows. Sources: Pella Windows and Patio Doors Owner's Manual and Pella Customer Care: cleaning Pella windows and patio doors.
